Live machining – MAPAL at Intec

At Intec 2023 in Leipzig, MAPAL will not only present its tools and solutions for different industries and materials but also treat trade visitors to live machining demonstrations.

"In cooperation with Grob, we will be demonstrating some of our tools live on a G150," says Frank Stäbler, Sales Director for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary. Equipment shown on the machine will include tools designed for aluminium machining and the MAPAL UNIQ chucks. The remaining MAPAL exhibition space is reserved for exhibits focusing on the topics of e-mobility, fluid technology, die and mould making and titanium machining.

"We have defined the three solution levels ‘Basic’, ‘Performance’ and ‘Expert’ for complex components that are expected to be produced in high volumes in the future," explains Stäbler. This classification delineates the different approaches that can be taken depending on the required specification, the number of pieces and the investment. The "Performance" line is geared toward series production and focuses on machining with special tools. It is used primarily when new components are to be produced efficiently and economically on existing lines.

As a technology partner, MAPAL offers tool and mould makers not only a high level of process know-how but also technologically leading tools and services, the exhibitor says. "We are showing our portfolio at the trade fair and emphasising how we ensure the highest precision, long tool life and above all process reliability with our tools,” Stäbler says. The tool range is complemented by matching clamping technology as well as various services related to processing optimisation and networked manufacturing.

Two additional milling tools have been added to the MAPAL range for titanium machining. According to information provided by the company, the OptiMill-Tro-Titan five-flute trochoidal milling cutter delivers maximum material removal rates and outstandingly well-finished surfaces thanks to the unequal spacing and gradient of the cutters. The NeoMill-4-HiFeed90 radial high-feed milling cutter guarantees high productivity and ensures the best possible removal rates, very high feed rates and extensive cutting depth, according to MAPAL.
